I think TheReal90s would be remiss in not celebrating today, which is the day of birth of one miss Courtney Love.
Let’s honor her with one of her classic moments..
Kurt Loder (always the best!) is interviewing Madonna at the 1995 MTV Video Awards, and Courtney, feeling UNAPPRECIATED, throws her makeup at Madonna until they invite her up to chat. She acts like a weirdo (gets on the floor to check out Madge’s shoes) until Madonna finally leaves.
Please note Madonna is wearing head-to-toe Gucci, which had just been completely image-overhauled by Tom Ford. SO. 90s. Thanks for that whole HIPHUGGER/low low low rise jeans thing, Tom (NOT).
Courtney looks the most like Tina Yothers here, I think. Dark lipstick was one of the grosser trends of the mid- to late- 90s. It kinda made everyone look like a divorcee in central Ohio trying to “be funky”. Unless you were Linda Evangelista.
