I was more jealous of Jake Fogelnest than anything else. He got to have all these cool people that I loved IN HIS BEDROOM and somehow was able to turn it into a show for MTV. The show: Squirt TV.

This episode featured my ultimate dream boy Mike D, as well as Beck—also a dream boy but everyone was so obviously crushed out on Beck so at school I’d be like “Meh, Beck, whatever.” When the song “Loser” came out it changed up the game quite a bit, but I also remember not wanting to admit that I really liked it for some reason. I’d be like “That song is good, but I don’t like the album.” The truth was, I didn’t have the album. I was being a snob just for the sake of being a snob. (I was being an idiot).

I had a mega crush on Jake and was jealous that he got to be cool. We were in the same grade. It just wasn’t fair.

Today I have the honor and privilege of being friends with Jake, who is one of the nicest most awesomest dudes ever. Plus, he’s a fan of The Real 90s. Not a surprise. The dude always had good taste.

If this blog were Sassy magazine, Jake Fogelnest would get the “Cute Boy Alert” alert. (I know it was “Cute Band Alert,” but this is my dream and I can do whatever I want).
