I’m starting The Real 90s with this Ben Lee video. Ben Lee was important. He was on Grand Royal (Beastie Boys label) so that’s why I listened to him. I’m pretty sure this song was also on a Grand Royal sampler. Samplers were important in the 90s, I found a lot of good bands that way. Another important thing about this song was that Liz Phair did the background vocals. It seemed, back then, like every band/musician were all friends with one another and part of this big 90s music family. I just sat alone in my bedroom and wanted somehow to be a part of it too.
*FUN FACT: At the time, his GF was Clair Danes. This was during the height of My So Called Life. I was jellyballs.
